Terms of service

Spotlight is operated by Thrain LLC, United States. It adds a PDF/UA accessibility layer to digitally created PDF documents and validates the result.

• The guarantee. You are charged only after your fixed document passes PDF/UA-1 validation, ISO 14289-1, verified with veraPDF. The validator's name and version are stamped on your report. If the document does not pass, nothing is delivered and nothing is charged.
• What the guarantee is not. It is a conformance guarantee against the named validator version. It is not legal advice, and no validator can judge prose, so the wording of generated image descriptions is not warranted.
• Prepaid pages never expire and are spent only on documents that pass validation.
• Scope. Digitally created PDFs up to 300 pages, self serve. Scanned documents need text recognition first and are quoted separately. Files our own gates reject are declined before any charge.
• Your content. You confirm you have the right to process the documents you upload. Processing is automated; failed or declined jobs may be inspected by us to improve the engine.
• Liability is capped at the amount you paid for the affected documents. Beyond the stated guarantee, the service is provided as is.
• Changes. The current terms live at this URL. Material changes take effect when published here.

Privacy

The free checker runs entirely in your browser; files you check are never transmitted. The rest applies only when you submit a document to be fixed.

• What we receive: the PDF you submit, the email address you give for delivery, and ordinary technical logs.
• Where it goes: processing runs on our own hardware in the United States, fronted by Cloudflare. Payment is handled by Stripe; your card details never reach our systems. Delivery email is sent through Resend.
• How long we keep it: uploaded documents and generated files are deleted automatically after 7 days. Job records (filename, email, verdict) expire after 30 days. Prepaid balances are kept while your balance lasts. Daily aggregate statistics contain counts, not personal data, and expire after 120 days.
• What we do not do: no analytics scripts, no advertising, no tracking cookies, no sale or sharing of your data beyond the processors named above. Your browser's local storage holds only your own pending-job reference.
• Sooner deletion: email [email protected] and we will delete your files and records ahead of schedule.
